ok...so it's 11:30 on Thursday the 19th of January. I leave at 2:30 and I'm pretty much not sure what to do with myself! I'm so excited/freaked/antsy...and so many other adjectives that my brain can't sit still for to think of. I can't believe in under 24 hours I'm going to be in Rome. I'm not sure what the internet situation is going to be there...but I will try and make it work and be on as much as possible. To all of you...and when I say all I really mean like 4 of you haha...I love you so much and I'll miss you more! Write to me in Rome ok! ciao! |

Holy crap so I leave for Rome in now less than a week. I'm so not ready for it and I'm entirely nervous. I'm half really excited that I'm going to be some place amazing for a semester, and on the other hand freaking the hell out. I'm not really quite sure how to prepare for this and I'm kinda at a loss for what to do with myself for the next week. My mom and I have gone to Kittery Maine to go shopping for clothes (to look more European...hahah I know right). I kinda look the part, but I so don't feel it yet. But we'll see. Perhaps I'll throw in another entry before I leave on Thursday, but if not then I will write as soon as I can in Rome! Love you guys..well right now all like 2 of you....but I still love you and I'll miss you very much. you'd all better write. or else...ciao mia amici! |

OH MY GOD snow was beautiful last night. Emma belle and I just ran around and took pictures. It was great fun and felt like I was a little kid again. I don't think I've been that giddy about snow in a while. I got a new coat for Rome which I'm ecstatic about. And I think I'm a little better off wardrobe-wise than I thought I was. I just gotta go shopping a bit after Xmas and I'm good to go. |

Thanksgiving was great, I'm back at school, Christmas is a few weeks away, and Rome is a couple more after that. All is right in the world. |

So Harry Potter was last night. I feel like I have to be careful with what I say so I don't ruin it or share too many secrets regarding the movie. Let's say while the movie was in no way accurate...it was still entertaining. I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years since the first book. I think I'll be so sad when it's finally over. There's a possibility that I may go see it again over Thanksgiving break at the IMAX theater with a couple of friends. I think that'll be a lot of fun, but we'll see what happens.
Speaking of Thanksgiving break...I can't believe it's on Tuesday! While I'm so excited to go home and see all of my family (especially my baby cousin!) it's a little bittersweet. By the time we come back from break there's only a couple more weeks until finals, then winter break. Then Rome. While I am so unbelievably excited, there are going to be so many people I'll be missing out there. Rumor has it my flight home is on May 11th, so hopefully that means I'll be back for senior week. There are just so many friends I've made this year that it doesn't seem fair I'm leaving so soon.
On a different note...this dorm has been driving me up the wall lately. Whether it be drunk residents or 6 am fire drills...or actual fires...it just doesn't seem to be getting better. A note on the fires: the arson was arrested and has been "indefinitely suspended". I don't think I want him to come back really. It's kinda scary no matter how smart or wealthy you are.
In the middle of this entry I received some crappy news that I guess I'll share as well. One of my close friends has decided to take a leave of absence from Skidmore due to "medical reasons". While that sucks and all...what really hurts is he did it without saying a word to anyone. All we have is a note on the door saying "I'm gone to treat depression and won't be coming back. My cell number is..." After being able to speak to him he said he just wasn't ready to talk to anyone and I can respect that, it just hurts, you know? Hopefully I'll get to see him over Thanksgiving and be able to talk to him more in depth then. It sucks because Sarah will be with me. Not that I don't want her to be there...I just mean I won't get any alone time with him. However I hope this is for the best and it helps him feel much better. I don't want to come off as selfish. While I miss him a lot, what makes him feel happy will always be the better decision. Though I think I'm allowed to mope for the next few days if I want :P
On one more happy note...some of my residents make me laugh. They pretty much make my life and I'm glad I've gotten to know them. OK...Time for pizza. |

So I guess I got sucked into this...A friend of mine suggested I started a livejournal for when I go to Rome so I can post things easily. I kinda liked that idea, but I decided to get a jump start on it seeing that it's almost 3 am and I'm not yet tired. It's a little strange I suppose but we'll see how this pans out. So seeing that the main reason I started this was for Rome, how about an update on that first. I just handed in my Visa application to the Italian Consulate so I'm waiting to hear back from them and see if I've been "approved". I hear they're really picky too. It's so dumb, at the consulate in Boston, they are open about 2 hours a day and they constantly change. I mean honestly, talk about making it difficult ;) Lucky for me Trinity College deals with the consulate directly so I don't have to worry about that. Hopefully I filled everything out correctly!
Not really much else going on except for Harry Potter 4 opening tomorrow. And that's a little more than just exciting. Obviously I'm going opening night because I'm a nut. But no, I won't be getting dressed up...though a Harry Potter shirt totally doesn't count as getting dressed up. Ok well seeing that I have riding in a few hours I should probably get some sleep. We'll see how often this gets an update eh? |
